The summit of Cerro Pui-Ponos took this castle-convent of the XII-XIII
century with its natural defense and panoramic views over the city. The
building has a mixture of Gothic walls, silvered sepulcher, and Aragones
palace. The hotel is decorated in tones of red ochre, greens and oak
beams. In the dining room there are typical dishes to try such as the
Alcañizana eggs, roasts and almond cakes.
The Parador de Alcañiz is 381mts above sea level, it is in the second
largest city of Teruel with 15.000 habitants; the parador is in the
heart of Maestrazgo Turolense, 60kms form Morella and 75kms from
Mirambel and Cantavieja. The touristic region of Matarranya is 35kms
away and there are marvllous medieval villages such as Calaceite,
Valderrobre and Beiceite, these form the routes such as ?Ruta del Tambor
de Samana Santa? ( the route of the drum in holy week), and ?Ruta de los
Tres Reyes? (route of the three kings). There are various ?fiestas?
through out the year, the local fiesta is from 8 to 13 September and
there are the Easter fiestas.
Form the Zaragoza airport: Head northeast. Turn slightly left for N-125.
Turn slightly right for N-125. On the roundabout, take the exit
direction N-125. Go through 3 round abouts. On the next take the exit
in the lane for E-90/A-2 direction Zaragoza. Join E-90/A-2. Take exit on
the left direction Zaragoza/Barcelona. Join A-2. Take exit for A-2 and
follow for AP-2 ( signs for Lleida/Barcelona). This is a toll road. Take
exit 3 for Bujaraloz (partial toll road). Turn left in to A-230. Turn
left in to A-230/N-II. Cesontine towards N-II. Turn slightly right in to
A-230/Camino de la Balsa Pedera. Turn right in to A-230. Take the lane
and join N-211. On the round about take the exit direction Av del Galan
Bergua. Go through a round about. Turn left into Av de Aragon. Look out
